There were many signs of Pi's physical and spiritual deterioration. In the beginning of the situation Pi was always talking about praying, but now he slimly talks about God. Physically, Pi talks about how every time he moved his body was very weak and filled with pain. He had terrible blisters all over his body and was very dehydrated. Pi has truely deteriorated.

Pi is physically and spiritually deteriorating in many ways.
Pi's physical apperance is affected by the weather and his physical activities. Due to his lack of food and freshwater he is emaciated and lacking energy. Pi's body is frail, thin, and slowly decaying. His lack of clothing also leave him susceptible to bacteria, sunburn and other problems.

Pi's spiritualatiy is dwindling. He has not lost hope in God persay, but on the actions of God against him. "I practised religious rituals... they brought me comfort, this is certain. But it was hard, oh, it was hard... It was so hard to love [God]." (Martel 208)

There are many signs of Pi's Physical and spiritual deterioration. He was out of sea for so long, that he could no longer pull turtles out of the water so he had food to eat. Also, there are times where he said that if Richard Parker where to attack, he would not be able to do anything because he could not even blow the whistle. Also, with the spiritual part, was that in the begininng of the book, he always talks about god and praying. However, as time goes on and he gets weaker, he starts to talk about God even less.

There are many signs of Pi's physical and some signs of Pi's spritual deterioration. Physically he was described to be weak and without many nutirents. He had gone blind in the later chapters because of this. He was left without much food or liquid and is described to be constipated as well. As for his faith, for one who was described to love God and always worship him he seems to never talk about or pray to God anymore. It is hardly in the reading anymore.

Some signs of Pi's physical deterioration was that his body was becoming weak. Pi had turned into nothing but skin and bones due to the lack of food and water. He barely had enough food for himself but he still continued to share with Richard Parker. Pi body was also covered in burns and sores due to the sun and lifeboat. Pi would have to deal with these physical problems until he is saved or until he dies. Some spiritual deteriorations were that he barely prays but still talks about God, like Kebo said above. I feel that Pi is losing faith and thinks that no one would ever come to save him. Pi is starting to wonder why God is not helping him.

Pi is being physically deteriorated because he is becoming so weak and he said that he could start to see his bones. He is also becoming so weak that he cannot sleep, but I would think that someone so weak would sleep much more than the average person. It is mostly restlessness. Also, he loses his eyesight and he believes that it is because of such poor hygiene.
Pi has some signs of spiritual deterioration in Chapter 74. He says, “But God’s hat was always unraveling. God’s pants were falling apart. God’s cat was a constant danger. God’s ark was a jail. God’s wide acres were slowly killing me. God’s ear didn’t seem to be listening” (Martel 209). This means that he could be starting to lose faith because he feels that all of what is God’s is not helping him and is making him suffer even more.

Pi is physcially deteriorating as he is skin and bones. Pi is suffering from malnutrition and is having health issues. Along with this, he is facing the pain of serious burns made from the sun which have blistered his skin. Pi is allso suffering spiritually. He is praying less than usual and he is beginning to question the gods' intentions.

The physical and spiritual deterioration's of Pi are very obvious throughout the story. Pi's body is becoming more and more hideous. Boils and pimples dress Pi and he has become very weak. He has become so desperate for food that he goes to lengths such as eating Richard Parker's feces as an attempt for food. His physical deterioration is quite evident. Also the spiritual aspect of Pi's life has vanished. The three religions that Pi set out in the book with have seem to have gone away. His spirituality and beliefs appear to be fleeing him as he grows weaker and more frail. I think he looses some of his religion due to the fact that he has no strength in his actual body physically. Being to exhausted can affect how Pi performs his religious beliefs, which in recent chapters have been pretty absent.

There were many signs of Pi's physical and spiritual deterioration. At that point his close were gone by the sun and now his skin was covered with boils. Along with his boiliing skin he had been thinning out because of the lack of nutrition in the little amount of food that he's given. Spiritually however he had gone a little crazy. At one point in the book he had talked about how everything he owned belonged to god. He was just saying like, oh this is god's hat. And going on an on about god's things. He was deteriorating mentally.

I completely agree with Shane-O on this question. The effects on Pi's physical being seem evident. His clothes have completely been diminshed from the sun and salt and slowly his body is deteriorating through wear of the sun and salt as well. He is completely naked with no from protection other than what he can gather. I also believe you can tell that the spiritual half of Pi is becoming smaller as the story goes on, as Shane-O mentions. In fact, Pi even says that in such hardtimes on the lifeboat out at sea, it was very difficult to stay true and keep his faith.

I agree with Kebo because in the novel, Pi is becomming very weak both physically and spiritualy. He is no longer wearing clothes because they have disintergrated. Also, he has boils on his face from the sun which cause him pain. Also in a spiritual sense, he says that he has to turn to god. This means that at some point he turned away from God with all the things he has had to go through.

Pi's physical deterioration had become worse as the days went by. His body was evaporating quickly to the point where he was only skin and bones. His clothing also quickly began to dissapear from his body. He had many sores and burns from his means of survival. Though it may seem like Pi's spirituality is deteriorating he has not lost all hope yet. He still continues to hold on and do anything he can to survive including practicing some rituals of his religion.

Pi shows signs of both physical and spiritual deterioration. An example of physical deterioration is when he goes blind. An example of physical deterioration is when Pi stops talking about God. When the book started he was very spiritual and would pray many times a day. Eventually he became less spiritual and it seemed like he almost gave up. -PB
