Blossom: During Pi's time as a castaway there are many highs and lows. Pi is lost in the depths of the ocean for almost an entire year. He has the company of only a tiger named Richard Parker, and a few items found in a locker to keep him a live. He has a ton of limitations while living on the lifeboat however the littlest things become rewarding. Hope for survival is very slim for Pi. Sharks feed around the lifeboat, purified water is hard to get, and food is almost impossible. His body is slowly dying, its deprived. Despite the predicament that Pi faces he is motivated to take care of both him and Richard Parker until he can not go on any longer. Pi's motivation to keep both him and the tiger alive causes him to excel in things he never knew he could. For example Pi is a vergetarian and he has never killed a living thing before. However to stay alive he learns to hunt, becoming a very good hunter. Without putting away his differences he nor the tiger would have survived as long as they did.
